Objective
Think of an Imaginary Creature and build a story that will describe the creature’s spirit and interests.

Lesson 1
Art Problem:
Use your imagination to draw a Creature that you will write also write about.
Guiding Questions: What does your creature look like? Does it have five noses? Two left feet?
What are some animals you might make a hybrid of to become a creature?
What does your creature like to do for fun? Does your creature like the same things you like?
Supplies: Library Children’s Books
There is a Nightmare under my bed, Where the Wild things Are, etc.
Copies of both Handouts,
Computer paper,
pencils.
Vocab:
Your Creature is an animal that you will invent or create on your own.
A Hybrid animal is when 2 different species of animals are combined into one.
Assessment:
Did they draw what their creature will look like?
Where they able to write about their creatures?
Standards:

If he is doing “this” (what’s in drawing) for fun does he also does this at work?
What is his job?
Does he protect you from harm? Or does he help you make a mess of your toys?
