Artist Statement

Senses and Smiles

I respond to things that are tactile and have a strong connection towards artwork that should be touched.  My art comes from the use of an amalgamation of materials as I shuffle through a range of comforting, quirky, and colorful supplies.  Then I facilitate and make available these supplies for others to join me in the journey of making.  My work isn’t functioning properly if the audience does not feel invited to engage themselves, whether by touching, hugging and holding, or by physically wrapping themselves with whatever I make.  My motto is ‘If you see someone without a smile, give them yours’ because it passes forward good energy.  I hope for my art to bring out the best in people and the places we live and visit.
