Master of Arts in Teaching, Thesis Statement

Fall Thesis Exhibition

The bench and photographs from the 901 Arts Community Center in the neighborhood of Better Waverly, Baltimore, are vibrant and energetic as they document and embrace the act of creating art while providing a safe environments to live.  The work here is a shared effort with the community members and wonderful people from 901 Arts and I thank them for allowing me to spend time getting to know them and their neighborhood.  When preparing for this project, I became more conscious of the relationship between the materials used and how they reflect the personalities and identities of not only the Better Waverly neighborhood but of Baltimoreans.  There is a positive spirit and outlook that is flourishing in Baltimore and this is a glimpse of it.
